Yay! You’re going to England! On this page you will find some great ideas for your London Itinerary. First things first though. How to book your flight?
Heathrow and Gatwick are the two main airports serving greater London. How to know which one you should use? Here’s some information that may help make your decision.
- Heathrow is the bigger of the two and most widely used for international travel to non-European countries.
- Heathrow is approximately 15 miles WEST of London city center (Trafalgar Square) while Gatwick is 30 miles SOUTH of the city center.
- Both offer non-stop express trains to the city. Heathrow Express will take you direct to Paddington Station, while the Gatwick Express will get you to Victoria Station.
- Heathrow is the best option for long-haul international flights while Gatwick has better options if you are heading to and from the continent.

Harry Potter Fan Day
Consider taking in the Harry Potter tour at the Warner Brothers Studios. Have some butterbeer while you’re there! Also, stop by Kings Cross Station to get your photo at Platform 9-3/4. There’s a great Harry Potter fan shop at Kings Cross as well!
Jack The Ripper Day
London is filled with Jack the Ripper noir! It was right here in the area of White Chapel that the grizzly murders took place in the fall of 1888. Start with the Jack the Ripper Museum by Tower Hill & go from there!
Football Appreciation Day
If you love European football, why not make a tour of the Premier league stadiums! Take a tour of Stamford Bridge, Emirates Stadium, and of course the grand daddy of them all, Wembley!

Travel Snippets
Regent Street, London
Another iconic London site is the crescent of Regent Street. Named for King George IV, as Prince Regent, the architecture is classic Georgian. This is one of my favorite shopping destinations when I am in London. It is full of luxury retailers but there is nothing unobtainable here. And it is perfect at night for just a nice stroll.
York Minster, York
Bearing the full name of ‘Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York,’ York Minster is a magnificent sight to see. Originally founded as a simple Christian church on this site in the early 600’s, centuries of fires and demolition by civil wars meant rebuilding time and again until the structure as we know it today was completed in the latter part of the 15th century. This building is only 1/3 the size of the Vatican, but nestled within the city center, it seems much larger. If you are in the North of England, do stop and check it out.
